The thing that must be understood..
Low intensity training volume is not only central to endurance performance. Low intensity training volume is central to long-term health!
The current predicament...
Person wakes up, rushes to car & spends 30min to an hour with cortisol elevated, blood glucose elevated, lactate elevated, getting stressed out driving to work. 😡
Person arrives at work, sits down for 8hrs + and values of all of the above markers only go up from there!
Person is aware of the importance of health and fitness, so person drives to the gym, pushes the intensity of an hour long workout that only sends all of the above even higher!
Person drives home, eats a quick convenient meal, & is surprised how hard it is to get good sleep!😵💫
Person begins the pattern all over the next day.
Our system is not built to survive this pattern. This pattern repeated year after year will lead to very poor health at a very early point in your life. 🤒
Fitting a large amount of movement into the day to modulate cortisol, to modulate blood glucose, to modulate blood lactate is not a luxury, it is what your body needs to function properly. It is how it/you were built to live!
And, with that, I'm off to toodle around on the bike for 3 hours. 🚴
