the fact that we’re watching american citizens getting shot and killed like game tape, as if the stakes were “did he keep both feet inbounds” shows how desensitized we’ve become to violence
@mirandadevine@bungarsargon Neither red people nor blue people are the problem. People who participate in finger pointing at red people or blue people are the problem. Oversimplifying issues by blaming the other team is lazy politics.
Here’s the problem: Thoughtful and well-reasoned pleas to lower the temperature and unify against political violence will be algorithmically suppressed because they do not generate enough monetizable “engagement” — all while incendiary hot takes intensifying violent conditions will be algorithmically amplified and mined for profitable clicks.
It’s an information doomsday machine, operating imperceptibly in the background of every tweet, Instagram reel, YouTube video, podcast and social media post.
“Fighting fire with more fire only leaves you burned. And the more oxygen you give a flame, the bigger it gets. The longer you cling to betrayal, the more time you spend stuck in it.” ~BrookeLynn Cohol

@FDRLST Fuck you for trying to use a crime to justify your hate.
“…there may come a time when a significant contingent on the right feels they have no civil options left and acts accordingly.”
Just say you want civil war, pussy.
