This is exactly what I did for the first 6-7 years of my career. I always tried to put money into it first to keep our basic savings and checking on the lower side which inherently makes you spend less money. The consistency of putting money into the fund which I chose vti compounded nicely and grows consistently on its own at this point.

Now I can take other risks etc with options and just a different style of investing. But that ETF really helped me build early on.
