The petroleum ministry published a long defence of E20 this week.
The most revealing sentence in it was not about fuel, engines, or mileage.
It was about banks.
The Petroleum Ministry has defended India's E20 ethanol blending programme, saying the initiative is aimed at boosting energy security and reducing crude oil imports. It also highlighted ₹1.66 lakh crore in farmer payouts and said automakers have reported no major vehicle damage linked to E20 fuel.

Clearly the ministry is working under pressure (greed/ corruption) by the ethanol manufacturers. The govt is simply not worried about the tax payers and consumers.

The better choice is that which gives better mileage and no potential damage to older petrol vehicles. Of course you and your ilk have decided that the Indian population does not need to think for themselves and your government’s decisions cannot be questioned for fallacies.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has said that car manufacturers will replace damaged parts, mainly washers in older cars using E20 fuel during servicing at no extra cost. He dismissed social media reports of vehicle damage as exaggerated.
