He did plagiarize for his more catchy music, the kind that would have been fodder for Reels today. But his original compositions were top notch

@gauravsabnis @idekwhybutwell There were no optional subjects at grade school level. Once I hit +2 there was no Bible/Moral Science class. TBH when history of country taught you so much about Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism & Jainism, knowing something about Christianity just broadened my view of world religions

The explicit lyrics were historical fact. The famous song Phool Gendawa Na Maro had original lyrics Lagat Jobanwa Mein instead of the later Lagat Karejwa Mein. This cleaning up up of lyrics is exquisitely explored in the film The Other Song by Saba Dewan

@MalluChique While I agree with your larger point, I disagree that no one questioned dharam karam songs. Majrooh wrote lots of double meaning lyrics. It's been an art form in India for centuries. Lyrics that can seem innocent but also erotic. For example, laga chunari mein daag. .. /1

@gauravsabnis With fake haldi, dhania powder, masala, milk, paneer back home - maybe it is better to go with shaan. All mustard oil in desi stores says for external use only because they do not want to be tested for Argemone oil contamination. I suspect everything 😂

@mcuban The elephant in room is that medical personnel cannot analyze &parse information from genomic data. How can cheap genome sequencing be harnessed to help patients? Even if we unleash AI tools data has to be vetted by doctors who also know about genomes, mol genetics and disease

@gauravsabnis Yes lemons and limes are entirely different fruits. Limes are rarely sweet even when yellow, but fully ripe lemons have varying degrees of sweetness mixed with the tartness. The tartness of lines is indispensable for margaritas or caipirinhas, lemons are a poor substitute .
