Eagles rookie WR Makai Lemon has shown flashes over the last few weeks after a slow start.
Yet I’m still seeing quite a few people bashing the selection of Lemon and his play.
Let’s look at Lemon’s stats through his first five games in the NFL, compared to another WR that was recently selected with the 20th overall pick:
M. Lemon: 15 receptions on 22 targets for 108 yards, 0 TDs
J. Smith-Njigba: 16 receptions on 25 targets for 110 yards, 0 TDs
Imagine if the Seahawks or their fans gave up on JSN after his first five games in the NFL?
I understand that we live in a world that demands instant gratification but let’s relax, please.
We are going to take some listener questions on tomorrow’s episode of The SZN, presented by Yeti. Send us your best NFL questions, and we will choose the best three or four to answer on the episode tomorrow.
@DiBonaNFL If the Eagles continue to not do well, what's the chance they bring back Wicks and Goedert for next year? Also, do you think Landon Dickerson for draft picks would be a good trade?
Let me clear this up for you, ESP…
One thing is very clear based off what Sirianni and Mannion have said the last few days about the drive with the field goal at the end:
Nick Sirianni and Sean Mannion are clueless.
Eagles fandom is once again split up, you are either a Nick Sirianni supporter or a Jalen Hurts supporter. Apparently its impossible to critique or defend the other without being a called a homer/hater of the other, JFC
@DiBonaNFL He is coaching scared! He is reacting and not acting! He is not coaching keeping in mind the team he has and the situation that he is in! He looks like somebody told him that he might lose his job and he is in panic mode!
@DiBonaNFL Some of his calls in situations have been reactive to previous recent decisions that failed or he regrets. Going for it on the 38 vs the Rams for example.
Following up on this after I heard Eagles HC Nick Sirianni say something incredibly concerning during his press conference earlier today:
“Running it is an option, obviously, but with what Jacksonville was doing in that particular case, it wasn't going to be an option,” Sirianni said. “You saw what happened when we ran it on the third down.”
It’s clear that Sirianni tucked his tail in the game’s biggest moment down the final stretch in Week 5.
What happened to the team that would call the tush push endlessly because they knew that the defense couldn’t stop it?
What happened to the “dawg mentality” that Sirianni once constantly preached?
If we’re being honest, Sirianni is turning into an inconsistently aggressive coward — and it’s holding his team back when it matters most.
Perfect example of Hurts’ lack of anticipation.
Defense shows a two-high, Quarters/match look. Goedert finds the void between underneath zone defenders.
Hurts has to throw BEFORE the hook defender closes. Instead, he waits for confirmation.
That’s a QB issue, not scheme.
