An academic project linked to the University of Cambridge is promoting an "Islamic curriculum" for children as young as four that depicts all of Israel as Palestine, describes Israeli civilians abducted by Hamas on October 7 as "prisoners of war," and tells students that Hamas is an "excuse" Israel uses to attack Gaza.
The Islamic Educator Learning Community (IELC) promotes the Islamic Curriculum Initiative (ICI), which produces educational material for Muslim children.
IELC is led by Farah Ahmed, an assistant research professor at Cambridge's Faculty of Education and a governing fellow of Hughes Hall. Ahmed was previously an activist with Hizb ut-Tahrir, which was banned as a terrorist organization by the UK government in 2024.
IELC says it is hosted by and partners with the Cambridge Teacher Research Exchange (CamTREE), a project of Hughes Hall, a constituent college of the University of Cambridge.
Texas’ Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport has canceled plans for new Islamic foot-washing stations after Texas Gov. Greg Abbott threatened to withdraw state funding and called for federal investigations into DFW and Houston’s airports over the facilities.
“These ablution facilities appear designed to single out one subset of the population for special treatment based on religion. That is illegal,” Abbott said, arguing that government-owned airports cannot favor one religion over others.
DFW subsequently said the proposed facility “would not deliver the originally anticipated operational benefits.”
