the slayer of fandoms. the great complainer. the STUD OF NAPLES. yes!!!!! thats me!!!
my core games and albums. comics and literature also mean a lot to me. im majoring in maths.
my complaints are sporadic and so are my analyses. open to discussion of any kind
@squiddyfacts@Sart_Sampson@CaeBraCro@SamolBilly like eraserhead has AMAZING imagery and symbolism which u rarely see nowadays, if u ignored it u would lose out on a potential favorite, which is what my point has been the whole time kinda. just enjoy it! who cares if some ppl are snobby about it, it happens everywhere
@squiddyfacts@Sart_Sampson@CaeBraCro@SamolBilly im not a native english speaker either so dw, but we both agree on this point. i think u shouldnt let ppl being snobs make u stop watching old cinema, which is great and should be enjoyed! theres plenty to learn about editing, screenwriting and imagery from old cinema + its fun
@squiddyfacts@Sart_Sampson@CaeBraCro@SamolBilly isnt eraserhead old shit according to ur logic? what are we saying here. also plot and narrative are different, he didnt watch the movie. is reading the wikipedia article the same thing as watching the movie? plus theres great movies with very simple plots like most horrors
@Sart_Sampson@squiddyfacts@CaeBraCro@SamolBilly it sucks cuz we all love cinema and more ppl should watch movies and not gaf about their age but the discussion keeps reeling back to x name y date and z attitude as if its sports teams. such absurd behavior
@squiddyfacts@CaeBraCro@Sart_Sampson@SamolBilly its called an example man we cant be taking every sentence so literally + ur hating on all old movies so u cant keep reeling it back to bicycle thieves u need to decide if u hate just bicycle thieves, attitudes, release dates of movies or pencils ur going back n forth rn
@squiddyfacts@Sart_Sampson@SamolBilly i do get hostile when i cant go toilet too tbh so i get it. but u shouldnt let random ragebaity tweets stop u from watching a movie that could potentially be ur new favorite, which is what matters on an indivieual level in the end. clockwork orange is quite timeless! much love
@squiddyfacts@Sart_Sampson@SamolBilly what? thats not the same thing at all. ur saying u dont care about the movies, which would be the invention not the inventor. also are u saying biographers arent normal human beings? or ppl who study art techniques or art history? they gotta study technological evolutions too
@squiddyfacts@Sart_Sampson@SamolBilly it doesnt make u special but the sum of all things u watched is culture which u have built, thats the literal definition. ur displaying an aversion to old movies cuz u wanna go against this or that guy, which is silly cuz it could be any movie atp. like who tf cares abt snobs
@squiddyfacts@Sart_Sampson@SamolBilly now ur dismissing cultural relevance and boiling it down to personal taste like thats just plain wrong im sorry. i dont like jojo myself but thats subjective taste, not objective, concrete cultural impact
@squiddyfacts@Sart_Sampson@SamolBilly i mean im sorry if they offended u, that guys should be arguing why jjba is good in their opinion but not everyone is like that guy. it sounds like ur taking out a personal grudge on strangers and all in all ur perpetuating what that guy did kinda. we're not that guy
@squiddyfacts@Sart_Sampson@SamolBilly so do u hate ppls attitude, do u hate specifically x movie, do u hate all pre-2000 cinema, all of the above like which is it? theyre three different things and we asked what ur issue is with cinema in specific, not ppl's attitude which i agreed with. ur being really confusing rn
@squiddyfacts@Sart_Sampson@SamolBilly yeah but this attitude of urs ('ive never heard of this idgaf about old shit') is not targeted at the people cuz u would say 'i dont think watching films = studying films'; ur insulting the movies which have objectively brought cinema forwards. ur misdirecting ur anger imo
@Sart_Sampson@squiddyfacts@SamolBilly i 100% agree that watching older movies is harmless and it can be great, u learn a lot about the technical aspect by watching kubrick which was brought up, but being condescending is counterproductive imo. like i wanna talk abt cinema i dont wanna say ur dumb and im smart
@squiddyfacts@Sart_Sampson@SamolBilly its an example to get the point across + bicycle thieves is great cuz it shows plenty about post war society, it experiments on what could be done with actors at the time and all in all the editing is pretty modern. some movies are objectively culturally relevant
@squiddyfacts@Sart_Sampson@SamolBilly i mean if u got an issue with snobs, which is entirely fair, i get it but thats not to cinemas fault. ppl who sniff their own farts existed in the 60s-80s aswell and shat all over great directors that got picked up later on in the 90s and 00s onwards. dont blame old movies tho
@squiddyfacts@Sart_Sampson@SamolBilly i mean i do agree that culture doesnt indicate intelligence, but culture is still necessary to understand cinema as a whole imo cuz its the bases. + theres plenty of older cinema thats really fun, u mention lotr and often took from evil dead, which is fun asf even is 40 years old
@squiddyfacts@Sart_Sampson@SamolBilly clockwork orange talks about cinema as a medium aswell so yeah it would expand ur view of cinema. whats ur gripe with old movies tho (+ what do u consider old exactly cuz bicycle thieves and clockwork orange are like 25 years apart)
