Sprites are TLEs or Transient Luminous Events, that happen above the clouds and are triggered by intense electrical activity in the thunderstorms below. It will never not be astounding to me that just calling something "sex change surgery" has convinced a significant portion of the population that sex change is possible and that these surgeries do it. They don't pause to think about what an extraordinary claim that is. They don't ask themselves what sex actually is and why rearranging bits of flesh supposedly changes it.
