Ed Sheeran's tour is continuing after Macklemore's exit. Isaac Slade of The Fray was his first special guest.
Slade sang hits like "How to Save A Life" and "You Found Me." He didn't shy away from the tour's controversy, saying he hoped people would "find common ground."
After all the Twitter commentary, you'd think Ed Sheeran's career was over. But he swiftly found a replacement who has 21.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
There is still an audience for music that brings people together, instead of trying to drive us apart ❤️

İlk dinlediğim zamandan beri bu şarkının bendeki yeri çok farklı. Uyandırdığı duygular, şarkının melodisi, sözleri ruhuma işliyor. Hal böyleyken en sevdiğim şarkı olması kaçınılmaz
this is exactly why some people don’t deserve your help. ed sheeran helped him when he was still coming up, but now he deliberately brought up palestine and israel at ed’s concert just to spark controversy. and it worked because y’all turned on ed and made him the villain. then, to play the good guy, macklemore donated $1m to palestine relief and is now doing a concert in their name, knowing he could potentially make way more than what he donated. this guy knew exactly what play he was making from the start
This nigga is a backstabbing piece of shit. You put somebody who gave you a golden opportunity in a fucked-up position by being political just to capitalize on the controversy you caused to recharge your dead career because you don’t have the talent to make it with your music. Fuck Macklemore.
You might hate me for saying this, but I think this is actually sympathy baiting. He’s trying to use the audience to gain sympathy and get them on his side. He made Ed Sheeran out to be the villain without directly calling him one, and now he’s doing all this, I’m sure, to win the crowd over. I’m sorry, but Ed Sheeran was never a bad person. Even the way the audience and everyone else turned against him because of this whole situation feels unfair.
I think the Ed Sheeran and Macklemore situation is a lot more complicated than simply asking, “Who was right?”
And personally, my issue isn’t even with Macklemore having a political position.
He is completely entitled to his beliefs and to use his own platform to speak about them.
My issue is that this was Ed Sheeran’s tour.
When you’re appearing as a supporting artist on someone else’s tour, I think there’s a basic level of professional courtesy involved.
If you’re planning to turn part of your set into a political statement about an extremely sensitive and divisive subject, I feel like that is something you discuss with the person whose tour you’re on beforehand.
Not because they have the right to control your beliefs.
Not because you need their permission to have an opinion.
Essa cultura do cancelamento é um dos grandes males do século. Uma gente que não quer justiça, quer a satisfação de ver alguém sendo destruído por uma plateia que se sente moralmente superior.
People are fighting over interpretations of other people’s words, assigning intentions, while believing they’re fighting some important battle for justice. They forget that people are dying in a war, and their online arguments are helping no one.
Now I'm mad at the people who misunderstood Takas story.
His. Story. Is. About. Ed's. Video. Not. About. His. Decision. To. Drop. Macklemore.
Leave Taka alone, this drama is all for nothing. 🤡🤡
