Fabia and Ostap presented our project at the @Bacell_EU Meeting 2023 at the University of Hohenheim and with that closed the talk session of the whole conference 🦠

First day of @Bacell_EU at the University of Hohenheim. We had the opportunity to listen to interesting talks throughout the day followed by a poster session. Thereby we had great discussions about Bacillus subtilis and more!

Listeriosis is an infectious disease, usually caused by contaminated food which particularly affects immunocompromised people. The mortality is up to 20-30% worldwide. Due to increasing antibiotic-resistant bacteria, it’s becoming important to find alternative strategies!

L. monocytogenes are gram-positive bacteria. Due to their ability to grow at refrigerator temperatures, the risk of food contamination is increased. It is not only a dangerous human pathogen, but is also used as a model organism for characterization of intracellular pathogens.
