Scientists are working to keep #coralreefs alive. Some are studying the best ways to grow baby #corals in labs, like the one in this animation showing its colors in and out of blue light. You can learn more at https://t.co/aNcU1kYmKF. #SciArt@MoteMarineLab@rescueareef
Corals can get the algae, and their color, back. But the stresses that the corals face must end first.
You can read more about coral bleaching on my website and in A Coral Reef Tale at https://t.co/aNcU1kYmKF.
Corals partner with algae for nutrients, and it is also what gives #corals their vibrant colors. But when a coral gets stressed, like from warming oceans or pollution, it pushes out the algae, loosing it's color and an important part of it's life. This is called coral #bleaching.
A Coral Reef Tale is out for the world to see! You can read the full #comic in PDF form on my website, or you can read the phone-formatted version on Webtoon, where episodes are released weekly over the next month. Happy reading about #coralreefs!
