You don’t have to know the ending of your novel before you start writing it.

People often think that in order to begin a novel or a story, you have to know exactly where it’s going from the get-go. But that’s not always true.

Sometimes, you don’t discover the ending until you’ve gotten to know your characters, developed the plot, worked through the conflicts, and figured out what the story is really about.

The story might naturally start leading you somewhere as you write, or the ending might come to you much later.

You don’t always have to know where the story will end in order to know where it should begin.
