I believe Sayeeda's assertion for both the london marches, the train station story, and the columbia protests seem to suggest that there are many jews on both sides. I think is disingenous to not state clearly that these are a very small minority of jews

As I struggle to keep my eyes open from utter exhaustion, I had to share one thing with you before I put my phone down for the night.

I just came back from a talk given by my friend, Rabbi Efrem Goldberg. He is the rabbi in Boca Raton Florida and he came to Israel with some of his colleagues to support us in this difficult time.

He shared a thought that so strongly resonated with me.

When God tells Abraham to go to the land of Israel, or more accurately, to leave his land and go to a land God will show him later, there is a seemingly strange verse there.

The Torah says:

“Now the LORD said unto Abram: 'Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto the land that I will show thee.

And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and be thou a blessing.

***And I will bless them that bless thee, and him that curseth thee will I curse…”***

It’s this last verse that Rabbi Goldberg addressed.

God says to Abraham, whoever blesses your nation, the Jewish people, will be blessed, and whoever curses you will be cursed.

What is strange though is the lack of consistency in this verse.

He who blesses you will be blessed. The verse uses the same word to describe a blessing. Baruch. Blessing.

But when it comes to the curse, it says he who curses you (Umekalelcha), I will curse, but the Torah doesn’t use the same word to describe the curse. It should say Akalel, I will curse. Instead it says “Aor”.

Why the inconsistency?

The word Aor also has the word Or in it. Or means light.

So what this verse really means is

“He who blesses the Jewish people will be blessed. But he who curses us, will see our light!”

If you’re with us in our darkest times, if you’re our friend, our ally, you will be blessed.

But if you get in our face? You will see our Or, our light.

You will learn fast what the Jewish people are capable of. You’ll see how we unite. You’ll witness a nation more resilient than anything you’ve ever seen. You’ll see a people volunteering, packing food, sending supplies, visiting bases, cooking food, making tzitzit, singing, dancing, uniting, laughing, crying, hugging, kissing, being one.

Our enemies thought they’d bring darkness. They had no idea how bright our light shines. They had no idea how quickly we would abolish their darkness.

And how fitting it is that this verse is said when God is trying to tell Abraham that if he goes to Israel, everything will be ok. Hashem tells Abraham that he should leave his land and go to Israel and whoever tries to get in his way will see his light.

Darkness is simply the absence of light. As long as we continue to shine bright as a nation, we ensure that their darkness will have no place in this world now or ever.

The Jewish people have and always will be the source of bright light in this world. No amount of darkness can put that light out.

Our enemies are finding that out now and we are only just getting started. They don’t know who they messed with.

As I finished writing this, this photo appeared in my WhatsApp. I don’t know who he is or why someone sent it to me but notice the shadow, the darkness disappearing as the sun, the light shines on this hero’s face.
