@Ayush90588474 What is actually going to happen - they will build/reopen two minor airports in Maldah and Purulia - which will then immediately turn into ghost towns like those new airports in UP.
Even Andal barely touches 0.5 million pax/year and it serves the 2nd largest urban cluster in WB.
@Ayush90588474 Even Kalyani doesn't make sense.
Dumdum still has plenty of room. With upcoming expansions it will be able to handle 3 - 3.5 million passengers per year. Current demand is ~2.
Although given how long these things take, I can understand why they would want to start early.
@itzme3d_1 The entirety of that 1500 km do not fall within the urban area/commuter belt. Hardly anyone is commuting daily from Namkhana to Sealdah.
Greater Kolkata has about 450 km inside it, comparable to Bombay/Delhi metro.
@HQuarterma43504 The central pillar of the British empire collapsed in about 3 years: 1939-42.
It never recovered. By 1965, nearly all of it was gone.
By historical standards, that's a spectacularly fast collapse. Only USSR was faster.
@_amitbehere That is the Indian solution to an Indian problem. Proof by hassle.
But why would other countries give up on the honor system, which is faster if everyone follows.
@itzme3d_1@InfraholicR Newtown is exactly same as Noida. It's completely car dependent and has almost completely segregated zoning.
Don't get fooled by that little bit of cycle-wahsing.
@SouvikJana83@prasannavishy Except NCR and Kol, the biggest and richest cities are all in the West/South. So an entire network is being built there right after Bom-Amd. Northies will now complain if they don't get anything. So they also threw in gangu HSR.
Amd to Delhi will be next. Calcutta after that.
@HQuarterma43504 Diulawpment in soyence has been ongoing long before 1947.
It takes significant effort even to distribute its fruits to the populace. Credit where it's due.
Blackpill, but reasonably.
