@herrohansbrix@lonnieschulze@TXRapparee@TripleDsBTaylor I do understand heat transfer, which is why I’m pointing out that your explanation leaves out key variables. Recognising radiant heat & convection doesn’t mean ignoring wind speed, surface temperature, or other factors that affect perceived heat. (1/2)
@herrohansbrix@lonnieschulze@TXRapparee@TripleDsBTaylor Your degree doesn’t change the physics, & insulting me doesn’t strengthen your argument. If you want to discuss heat transfer, we can do that, but dismissing someone’s ability to understand isn’t the same as explaining the science. (1/2)
@lonnieschulze@herrohansbrix@TXRapparee@TripleDsBTaylor Why does it matter how old she is though? A lady who lives in a climate with temperatures similar to the hottest parts of America says ‘shit the bed, it’s fucking hot in the UK, even when the temperature is lower’ seems to be irrelevant to you.
What do you want from this?
@lonnieschulze@herrohansbrix@TXRapparee@TripleDsBTaylor That’s my original goal post, is it? Genuine question.
Considering your response, why would I bother defending it (rhetorical)? For some reason, the age of the person mattered to you. Would it have made the difference to you if she was 18 or 38 (rhetorical)?
@lonnieschulze@herrohansbrix@TXRapparee@TripleDsBTaylor I wasn’t defending my point, I was providing even more arguments to support it. You ignored the previous ones, so took an alternative approach.
It’s actually difficult to know what you’re really looking for out of this, to be honest. Other than an argument.
@herrohansbrix@lonnieschulze@TXRapparee@TripleDsBTaylor Jesus wept.
Maintain absolutely everything the same, then yes. Is everything actually the same practically? No.
I seriously hope you’re not a scientist. Unless you’re just a theoretical scientist.
@herrohansbrix@lonnieschulze@TXRapparee@TripleDsBTaylor At what point did I say there was anything special about UK weather?
What is it with you Americans making straw men and asking someone to argue against it? The motivated reasoning is tiring.
@herrohansbrix@lonnieschulze@TXRapparee@TripleDsBTaylor Erm, not only.
Wind speed, acclimatisation, ground surface and urban heat islands are also factors. Factors you can’t just ignore.
Dunning-Kruger would be proud of you.
@lonnieschulze@herrohansbrix@TXRapparee@TripleDsBTaylor So at one point you won’t accept an anecdote & minutes later you want to claim I said it? Right. Seems smart.
No, I never said other places don’t deal with heatwaves either. I also, just to say it again, never said the UK is hotter than America. But I feel like you think I did.
@lonnieschulze@herrohansbrix@TXRapparee@TripleDsBTaylor Again, and I’ll say this slowly just for you.
At no point, ever, did I say the UK is hotter than the US.
Just to repeat, I never said the UK was hotter than the US.
I just said, I can feel hot in the UK and we don’t have to deal with the high temperatures you get in the US
@lonnieschulze@herrohansbrix@TXRapparee@TripleDsBTaylor Nah, you really haven’t answered questions. You ignore them.
And no, I don’t think the UK has magical powers, that’s just another straw man.
I can explain it for you, but I can’t understand it for you too.
