Author of two books, including @Shooting4Record. I also fancy #golf, #cigars and #Scotch. And I #amreading#books. The family still loves me; that’s the best.
@AlamoCityGolf Amazing how that layout hardly changed a darn bit for more than 50 years, until the remodel going on now. But there is something missing. Anyone want to take a guess at the obvious? It made a big dent down at Brack.
DeChambeau: "The quote is (Edison) failed 9,999 times before he found out one way to make a lightbulb work.
"I relate to that because I fail just as many times as that or even more. So I'm OK with failure as long as I can learn from it." #golf#amreading https://t.co/haRh40YmBX
The original clubhouse was destroyed by fire at the start of the Roaring 20s. Wonder if it was located between where 1 and 18 are depicted here. In this drawing, it’s located away from both holes and at its current location. No. 18 is now 4; the opening hole now 5. #History#SATX
This is the original A.W. Tillinghast layout of Brackenridge Park Golf Course, before State Highway 281 was built in 1968. You can see how the redesign in 2008 got the course very close to the original design. Hole #s may have changed, but the routing is the same for 15 holes.
Haven’t been to Memorial since the redesign in Houston, but this has been an excellent example recently. In Houston, HGA has taken munis and redesigned them for diverse communities (Wortham). In Dallas, Cedar Crest (Tillie). Check into https://t.co/6i2qB1390e in ATX
Folks, I need your help coming up with a list of treasured munis that cater to diverse communities of golfers. All recommendations are welcome. Thanks!
Looking back from the 9th green at Mission del Lago. Lots of birdies on this hole, and lots of lost balls in the pond. Risk/Reward. Players Club Members get a free round of golf this month! Join today! https://t.co/7ueU09xoG9 #GolfMissionDelLago
You soooooo live in my neighborhood. You don’t know how many times I’ve been called crazy. Or, “Hop in this cart, Tim. Don’t die on us.” Your season is here. Heat index was 110+ north of the Bravo today.
@shanebacon My weird personal favorite is the solo round in blazing Texas heat. My back is loose, the course is empty and I play in 2:30. My season is fast approaching.
The average green fee for top UK golf clubs has gone from £88 to £241 in the last 20 years. As golf faces into a recession, I’ve put down some thoughts on how clubs could change their approach to attract back the domestic audience.

ACGT Golfers! You are Incredible! Our Director of Golf Operations, Jessie Hodge just delivered over 530 pounds of food to the San Antonio Food Bank and DaisyCares foundations! At the end of the month we'll be sending in the thousands of dollars that have been donated! Thank you!
It’s been easy to notice lately the increased walking - people walking people, people walking dogs, dogs walking people. Hopefully that healthy flirtation carries on as a healthy habit when we put away our masks. But will the people walking on #golf courses continue?
Sorry if, as a conservative, I’m not gung-ho to fall in line behind record debt, tariffs & gov’t subsidies, exec. power grabs, petty attacks against vets & career law enforcement officials, and crass rhetoric out of the Oval all in exchange for good judges & a tax cut. #NoDeal
I first tweeted about this on Dec. 18, calling it a “hostage exchange.” I believe the Dems should proceed with their #ImpeachmentTrial#witnessswap but not stop with Bolton. Small potatoes. Give up Papa Biden for Rudy.
@chambleebrandel Can’t tell from that old photo if he’s playing at @savemuny or @AlamoCityGolf Old Brack while growing up in Texas. If we could spot some mats on the tee boxes, that would give it away.
@RDGolfMedia I would recommend they be sent to Beaver, Okla. They could be used as backup if the cows ever become constipated or, heaven forbid, the other extreme.
We have an opposition that can’t stand a President’s personal style. It was Clinton then, Trump now. GOP vs. Clinton never had a chance, and neither does Dems vs. Trump. This time around, if the Dems would have been willing to offer up Biden, thought this thing through, maybe.
... it took time before Sen. Goldwater told Nixon he wouldn’t survive an impeachment trial. When the Senate hearings went on then, the Tapes were just getting erased. The Supremes had yet to rule on their release. Once they ruled unanimously, the House Judiciary had it easy. So,
