@FightingOnFilm I love the Spy Who Loved Me reunion going on there with Barbara Bach and Richard Kiel. Also, directed by one of the most prolific Bond directors.
@FightingOnFilm I have this LP also. The recordings aren't bad, but the cover art is definitely the best thing about this album in my opinion. It's a thing of beauty to look at!
@jamespreece6@FightingOnFilm Yes still there and the pavilion looks much the same as it did at the time of filming. Unfortunately the adjacent bandstand was destroyed in a storm a while back.
@jamespreece6@FightingOnFilm Yes, the parade ground scenes were filmed at Pietermaritzburg cricket oval with the seating areas of the old pavilion filled in with facades. I think they filmed near Isandlwana but not at the actual place. A pity because the Isandlwana Hill is very distinctive looking.
@FightingOnFilm Fun personal moment every time I watch Zulu Dawn is when I see Col. Pulleine looking through his binoculars. Those binoculars belong to my father. My family loaned them to the production at the time.
@FightingOnFilm For me it's Battle of Britain. Any one of three themes from that film: the main (RAF) theme, Aces High (Luftwaffe March) or William Walton's Battle in the Air.
@FightingOnFilm Lawrence of Arabia. My first time was when I was about 10 and I watched it on a fuzzy TV broadcast with adverts etc. Despite that, it quickly became my favourite film (and remains so). I can only imagine the impact it would have had if I'd seen it projected in a cinema.
@FightingOnFilm I'd like to see the 2001 Czech film, Dark Blue World covered. It has some of my favourite cinematic Spitfire footage.
Also, another of my old favourite air combat movies, Aces High (1976).
@SpyHards Near the bottom of the Bond song ranking for me. Doesn't work in the context of the title sequence for me, and it gave Arnold nothing to work with in the score, should he have wished to work it in. Having said all that, it's a song I don't mind listening to from time to time.
@spybrary I am about to start a re-read of Spook Street. It was my favourite Slough House book on first reading, and I want to revisit it before watching the new series of Slow Horses.
@yardsaleartist That's a great find. I knew that the making-of docs for Goldfinger and Thunderball were made several years before the rest of the films were done, but had no idea they'd come out on VHS.
