I didn’t even know what VVF was until I served in northern Nigeria.
That’s why I sometimes struggle with whether NYSC should be scrappd, bcos many of us live in delulu land, oblivious to half of what’s really happening in this country, especially those of us born & raised in Lagos.
Girls in Nigeria are suffering. Over half of VVF patients were married off as children. Kids who should be in school (12, 13, 15 years old) are being forced into marriage & pregnancy before their bodies are ready. This is most common in areas with high rates of child marriage.
Cases of VVF due to child marriage:
Kano - 81.5% married by age 15
Borno - 52.3% married by age 15
Sokoto - over 90% married before 18,
etc.
In 2025, we are still allowing young girls to endure brutal pain/deaths under the control of men bcos “our religion says so.” Yet you’ve abandoned other outdated practices from that same religion bcos society has moved forward.
Why can’t we end child marriage too?
What is attractive in a child’s body??

Ochanya was just a girl. She deserved to live. She deserved care and protection.
Until we get a system that protects women and girls in Nigeria, we will keep speaking up.

Urgent Call for Justice.
A call for justice is being raised for Khadija Sani, a 13-year-old disabled girl from Ikara, Kaduna State, who was reportedly r%p€d by Gambo Iska from the Mahangi district.
The suspect has been arrested by the Zaria Area Command and is currently under investigation. However, there are serious concerns that some politicians there are allegedly attempting to interfere with the case, reportedly offering Khadija's family N1million to pressure them into forgiving the suspect.
Gambo Iska was a familiar acquaintance to the family. He was a regular visitor to the compound to see a woman staying there, and Khadija and her sister knew him well enough to affectionately call him "Daddy." The alleged incident occurred on October 24, 2025. On that day, Khadija's mother was at the hospital with her other daughter. Gambo Iska first visited the mother at the hospital. Upon confirming that Khadija was not present, he then reportedly went straight to their residence and r%p€d the girl.
We urge security agencies in Ikara, Zaria, and all relevant authorities to ensure that Khadija receives justice and that this crime does not go unpunished. No child should have to endure this suffering.
Over 3.5 million Nigerian girls are child brides.
44% married before 18th birthday. Behind every statistic is a girl whose dreams were stolen too soon.
This must end.

140 killed? 🤯😔
Women are being hunted and killed by their close relatives, partners and ex-boyfriends.
This is becoming too much!
Something needs to be done.
