Strengthening Civil–Military Synergy for Assam’s Development

Lt Gen Neeraj Shukla, GOC, #GajrajCorps_IA, held a productive interaction with Dr Ravi Kota, IAS, Chief Secretary of Assam to further strengthen collaboration between the Army and the State Government.

Discussions focussed on establishing a museum, on the lines of the Kameng Cultural and Heritage Museum at Dirang for preserving and promoting Assam’s rich military, cultural and historical heritage, along with information on diverse flora and fauna in the state.

Opportunities to upscale and promote Tezpur’s products including Tezpur litchis for wider participation by tourists and horticulturists from across the country and ways to enhance the scale of the Tezpur Litchi Festival were also explored.

The interaction highlighted a shared commitment to preparing Assam’s youth by conducting coaching for both written and physical examinations for careers in the armed forces, CAPFs and State Police through focused initiatives. The conduct of the Durand Cup for 2026 under the aegis of #GajrajCorps_IA was also a key point of discussion.

Matters related to security around military stations, civil areas, land management and promotion of joint preservation, conservation and propagation of flora and fauna in conjunction with ZSI and BSI and initiatives for making Military Stations and the areas around them Purple were also discussed, thus reaffirming the importance of close coordination between the Army and the State Government in advancing the interests of the nation and the people of Assam.

GOC, #GajrajCorps, along with a team of officers, held a meaningful interaction with Vice Chancellor of #GauhatiUniversity Prof Nani Gopal Mahanta & distinguished faculty members, including HoD’s from Sociology Prof Akhil Ranjan Datta, Anthropology Prof Chandama Samah, Women Studies Prof Poully Vauqulin, Political Science Dr Vikash Tripathi & Business Adm Dr Sameer Sarkar.

The discussions focused on strengthening collaboration to enhance understanding of region’s socio-cultural dynamics, foster strategic awareness & critical thinking among students & inspire youth, particularly young women, to explore careers in Armed Forces.

This partnership seeks to deepen Army–Academia–Community engagement, promote experiential learning through visits to frontier areas, empower & make students aspire & contribute towards vision of #ViksitBharat2047 with a shared commitment to #NationFirst.

🌍 On #WorldEnvironmentDay2026, #GajrajCorps reaffirmed its commitment to environmental conservation through a seminar on “Decarbonising Defence Infrastructure – From Policy to Practice” at Tezpur. The session was marked by talks given by Subject Matter Experts, Dr Nikhil P G Dy Dir National Institute of Solar Energy, Ms Prerona Kaushik, GRIHA (Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment), Mr NK Ojha & Dr Sheenu Jain.

The event saw release of report on Green House Gas Emission Mapping for Hattigor Military Station in #Assam, marking a progressive step towards data driven environment management. Similar Carbon Mapping for Missamari and Tezpur Military Station is ongoing. After assessment GajrajCorps is committed to take corrective actions by plantation of trees, creation of water bodies & adopting renewable energy measures to reduce Carbon footprints in its constituent Military Stations.

A major milestone achieved was award of GRIHA-certificate for ECHS type D Polyclinic building at Tezpur, which is a first four star rating green defence facility in the region. The event culminated with facilitation of expert speakers & an address by GOC GajrajCorps, wherein he appreciated efforts of all stake holders including #CWETezpur Ms Nazneen Banu in promoting environmental awareness & sustainable practices. He exhorted all ranks to work towards Nation Building & environment conservation on the principle of “Jan Bhagidari Se Paryavaran Sanrakshan”, in pursuit of #ViksitBharat.

विश्व पर्यावरण दिवस 2026 के अवसर पर #GajrajCorps ने तेजपुर में “Decarbonising Defence Infrastructure – From Policy to Practice�� विषय पर एक संगोष्ठी आयोजित की। इस कार्यक्रम के माध्यम से पर्यावरण संरक्षण के प्रति अपनी प्रतिबद्धता दोहराई गई। कार्यक्रम में Dr Nikhil P G (Dy Dir, National Institute of Solar Energy), Ms Prerona Kaushik (GRIHA), Mr NK Ojha और Dr Sheenu Jain ने पर्यावरण और हरित विकास से जुड़े विषयों पर अपने विचार साझा किए।

एक बड़ी उपलब्धि के रूप में Tezpur स्थित ECHS Type D Polyclinic भवन को GRIHA का चार-स्टार प्रमाणपत्र मिला। यह क्षेत्र की पहली चार-स्टार रेटिंग वाली हरित रक्षा सुविधा है। कार्यक्रम के अंत में विशेषज्ञ वक्ताओं का सम्मान किया गया। GOC Gajraj Corps ने सभी संबंधित लोगों, विशेष रूप से CWE Tezpur की Ms Nazneen Banu के प्रयासों क�� सराहना की। उन्होंने पर्यावरण जागरूकता और टिकाऊ विकास को बढ़ावा देने में उनके योगदान की प्रशंसा की। उन्होंने सभी सैन्य कर्मियों से “Jan Bhagidari Se Paryavaran Sanrakshan” के सिद्धांत पर काम करने और #ViksitBharat के लक्ष्य के साथ पर्यावरण संरक्षण में योगदान देने का आह्वान किया।

Advancing Biodiversity Research & Conservation

Lt Gen Neeraj Shukla, GOC #GajrajCorps_IA, visited the Zoological Survey of India (ZSI), Shillong, to operationalise the MoU between #CIJWS and ZSI through collaboration with #GajrajCorps_IA.

He interacted with Smt Jennifer Lyngdoh, Scientist E & Head of Office, and ZSI scientists specialising in entomology, herpetology, bat ecology and aquatic biodiversity, exploring avenues for joint research, conservation and knowledge-sharing in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya.

This initiative by the #IndianArmy aims to support the study & conservation, of diverse faunal and aquatic species across ecologically rich regions of North East India. The Indian Army will facilitate scientists of ZSI to access remote and unexplored areas for scientific study, preservation & chronicling research leading to publications for wider circulation among activists, enthusiasts and scholars across India and Worldwide. Thus fostering greater appreciation of India’s natural heritage in the journey towards #ViksitBharat2047.

जैव ���िविधता अनुसंधान एवं संरक्षण को नई गति

लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल नीरज शुक्ला, जीओसी #GajrajCorps_IA, ने #CIJWS और भारतीय प्राणी सर्वेक्षण (ZSI), शिलांग के मध्य हुए समझौता ज्ञापन (MoU) को #GajrajCorps_IA के सहयोग से क्रियान्वित करने हेतु ZSI, शिलांग का दौरा किया।

उन्होंने वैज्ञानिक ‘ई’ एवं कार्यालय प्रमुख श्रीमती जेनिफर लिंगदोह तथा कीटविज्ञान, सरीसृप एवं उभयचर अध्ययन (Herpetology), चमगादड़ पारिस्थितिकी तथा जलीय जैव विविधता के विशेषज्ञ ZSI वैज्ञानिकों के साथ संवाद किया। इस दौरान असम, अरुणाचल प्रदेश एवं मेघालय में संयुक्त अनुसंधान, संरक्षण तथा ज्ञान-साझाकरण के विभिन्न आयामों पर विचार-विमर्श हुआ।

#IndianArmy की यह पहल पूर्वोत्तर भारत के पारिस्थितिकीय दृष्टि से समृद्ध क्षेत्रों में विविध जीव-जंतुओं एवं जलीय प्रजातियों के अध्ययन और संरक्षण को ��्रोत्साहित करने की दिशा में एक महत्वपूर्ण कदम है। भारतीय सेना, ZSI के वैज्ञानिकों को दूरस्थ एवं अब तक कम-अन्वेषित क्षेत्रों तक पहुँच उपलब्ध कराएगी, जिससे वैज्ञानिक अध्ययन, संरक्षण, प्रलेखन एवं शोध प्रकाशनों को बढ़ावा मिलेगा।

यह प्रयास भारत एवं विश्व भर के शोधकर्ताओं, प्रकृति प्रेमियों एवं विद्वानों के बीच भारत की समृद्ध प्राकृतिक धरोहर के प्रति जागरूकता और सराहना को सुदृढ़ करेगा तथा #ViksitBharat2047 की यात्रा में सार्थक योगदान देगा।

Military Stations और civil areas की सुरक्षा, land management, ZSI एवं BSI के साथ मिलकर flora और fauna के संरक्षण एवं संवर्धन, तथा Military Stations और आ��पास के क्षेत्रों को Purple बनाने की पहल जैसे विषयों पर भी विचार-विमर्श किया गया।
