After 5 years and about 6,000 books, we just sold the last physical copy of @GoneDogs that I’ll pack and ship from my kitchen table. From here on it’s 100% print on-demand and digital.

Total around 8k copies sold so far. All via self-publishing. And it’s just getting started.

Publishing @GoneDogs isn’t about money. I’ve been at this for 4 years, and it won’t make $ till we sell to a publisher. But by independently selling 10k books since 2019, this year I’ve realized that this isn’t about making money - it’s about spreading love. A cool epiphany. ❤️

Last week my wife met a lady in the neighborhood who recently had to put her 3-yo dog down. Wife then had our daughter bring a copy of @GoneDogs down here. Didn’t see the lady again until today. Gave her the book. She burst into tears of gratitude.

I’m so glad we made this.

This dog named Boncuk waited by the entrance 6 days for his owner patient Cemal Senturk who was being treated at the Medical Park Hospital in Trabzon, Turkey. The security guard said multiple attempts were made to return the dog home but the patient’s family said the dog kept finding ways to escape and return to the hospital. The staff fed and cared for the dog who was joyful to finally be reunited...
If that’s not loyalty, I don’t know what is! 🐕

I lost my best friend today.

Dexter hadn’t been feeling well recently; what I thought might be a stomach bug turned out to be an inoperable tumor and the start of organ failure. We made the humane decision and said goodbye about an hour ago.
