The missing was due to:
— Failure to clear pending bills
— Low own-source revenue collection
— Use of manual payroll systems
— Failure to audit and clean up payroll records.

@LOOP_KE It’s just such a buggy low performing app with poor security. It has a Face ID option that doesn’t really work. It’s a bit like running a Tecno user interface on an iPhone. That’s how disconnected the experience is.

Too many of our politicians seem to prefer an uninformed electorate because it is easier to control people through narratives, theatrics, empty promises and mediocrity than through performance and accountability.

What many of them fail to realise is that their arrogance, incompetence and corruption do not only damage institutions and the economy; they also end up breeding resentment towards innocent people from their own communities. That is where the real danger lies.

Lately, it has become increasingly common to hear hardworking and innocent Kenyans being labelled “nyinyi wezi,” “wauaji,” “wafisadi,” “watu wenu,” or “nyinyi mrudi kwenu,” simply because of their names or the community they come from. No Kenyan should ever be judged by the actions of a handful of incompetent, corrupt and arrogant leaders.

We must stop making leadership a tribal project. As we approach the next elections, we need to vote wisely. Our leaders do not necessarily have to be mtu wetu; they need to be people of integrity who can deliver services, provide dignified leadership and transform the places they serve.

If a President can come from one community and lead an entire nation, then surely a governor, senator, MP or MCA can come from a different tribe, religion or background and still lead another community effectively.

At the end of the day, what ordinary Kenyans want is not theatrics or tribal slogans. They want functioning roads, clean neighbourhoods, quality healthcare, good schools, security, jobs, civility, decorum and genuine progress.

Perhaps the greatest threat to incompetent and corrupt leaders is not the opposition, but an informed, educated and critically thinking citizenry that asks questions, demands accountability and votes based on performance rather than propaganda.

It is what it is…
