Donor safety and Iron Replacement.
Should iron replacement therapy be provided to blood donors?
For menstruating female donors, is this something you would advocate providing @acweyand, or should this be a healthcare - patient conversation?
Are there any physicians who discuss blood donation with patients and how to maintain wellness before and after donating blood?
Thanks for your comments, advice, and suggestions.

Platelet drip 💧
Continuous infusion involving small volumes of platelets over an extended period of time.
Has anyone performed in the adult setting of extreme platelet refractoriness?
#Hemepath pitfall alert! Thrombopoietin-mimetic agents such as eltrombopag (Promacta) & romiplostim (Nplate) cause changes in megakaryocytes that exactly mimic MDS/MPNs. The paper below describes some abnormal forms, but I've seen the whole gamut. Be wary!

BREAKING: The FTC just banned non-compete agreements, per MorePerfectUnion.
The Federal Trade Commission has issued a final rule making it illegal for bosses to make workers sign noncompetes in any scenario, and voiding nearly all existing noncompetes.

👇🏼 Take a look at this very rare, frozen unit of Kpb-negative blood.
Kpb is a member of the Kell blood antigen system and is present on 99% of all donors. Finding Kpb-negative blood is challenging.
🧊Rare red cell units can be frozen for up to 10 years in glycerol.
When needed for transfusion, they are thawed and washed 🚿
⏰Once thawed, they have a 24-hour expiration.
