@JamesSurowiecki what do you think a political party is supposed to do? votes are earned, not given and democrats time and time again fail to mobilize people to vote for them. democrats blame the undecided voter and then wonder why they lose all the time its fuckin pathetic
@cptgrumpus@InstantSunrise because it isn’t unconstitutional or illegal. the 13th amendment stipulates that slavery can be instituted as a punishment for a crime, the measure would abolish that stipulation on the state level
Jill Stein using the Palestinian genocide as her only political leverage/campaign to secure Arab votes and then a couple hours before the election results being like “I have ties to Israel I don’t want to see it burnt down either” should serve as a stark reminder that the electoral system in a fascist state will always be fascist and you cannot just “vote away” a deeply rooted issue in society.
this is the most important election of your life until the next one at which point the stakes of this election will seem meaningless in comparison. elections is a lot like dragon ball z in that respect
just the constant deterioration of morals. constant goalpost shifting. all in support of a president that will surely be at best a run-of-the-mill establishment neoliberal. you’d think maybe we’d get at least universal healthcare or something, but noooo we’re getting COP NATION!
"we've declared x 'not a real country' and on that basis, we get to conquer and loot it" is the basic unit of european imperial history in the last, like, 300 years
