As massive wildfires continue to burn in southern New Mexico, heavy rain is causing flash flooding and mudslides in the affected area, complicating fire crews' efforts to fight the fires. Our disaster teams and partners are doing all they can to ensure people who were forced from their homes and have experienced significant loss receive the help they desperately need.
If you’re looking for help or want to lend your time and support, here’s what you need to know:
➡️ What is the Red Cross doing: Our @RedCrossNM disaster teams are working closely with local, state and federal officials to support hundreds of people in shelters who were forced from their homes. Since shelters were opened, we've provided 1K+ overnight stays and 3K+ meals and snacks with partners.
➡️ Where to find help: Deadly wildfires and severe weather have prompted evacuations and left roads inaccessible. Shelters are open and welcome anyone needing food, water, a safe place to stay, and other support. You can find open shelters by visiting https://t.co/KqgklNScoV, calling 1-800 RED CROSS, or via our Emergency app.
➡️ Emergency rescue efforts: During a disaster, our primary focus is to ensure people have safe shelter, food, emotional support, and other essential resources. If you're in an emergency situation, please call 911 to connect with trained professionals who can help.
➡️Locating missing loved ones: Please call 1-800 RED CROSS and provide as much detail as possible to assist us in potentially locating your missing loved one. Our teams will do all they can to help. You can also find more tips and information at https://t.co/Cda68RbPek.

"Ordinary People," "The Eye of the Needle," "JFK," and the remake of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" have gotta be my favorite films of the late, great Donald Sutherland
