The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has concluded that the Federal Government does not see education as worth giving priority attention, hence the impasse in the negotiations for government to meet the lecturers’ demands.

The only constant situation in the academic calendar of the Nigerian Universities since 1999, is the government's refusal to meet the union's demands since 1999 has however been the basic reason ASUU goes on strike almost every year.
