The Labor government has left in place ‘mutual obligations’, as new tender documents show the punitive system channels billions of dollars into private companies, writes @SquigglyRick

Someone please do an in depth analysis of what has happened to Medicare and PBS over the last 10 years. What has been cut? What costs to patients have increased? What proportion of GP visits are bulk billed?

People don’t wear a mask not because they’re uninformed
But because they’re embarrassed
Australia is a high school, most haven’t evolved beyond conforming to peer pressure
That’s why we need a mandate - asking teenagers to do the right thing for others is futile

Ho hum. Michael Rowland interviews another coffee shop small business owner about floods. This maintains ABC'S approach to seek answers/opinions on all matters from those who sell cups of coffee
Sussan Ley: “I heard him having a bit of a grumble that he hadn’t had a day off since taking on the prime ministership... I’ve got news for him – PMs don’t get days off.”
It's like the Coalition is engaged in a game of who can be the most shameless here

lmaooo an ex-senior Liberal Party minister telling RN that voters do not understand what the Liberal Party really stand for. Its core values.
Do you think your policies might have something to do with that? asks Hamish.
If I wanted public health or epidemiological advice from cafe owners or hairdressers, I could ask them myself. I have less access to actual medical specialists & epidemiologists. How hard is it to be a genuine news service @abcnews and not a vox pop service?
@VicGovDH Think of the reaction if we lost 22 people in the roads in one day. This toll is hideous and getting worse . These are real people. Real families. Will either state or federal government please start to address this disaster more seriously? What is the winter plan?
Let's help the planet & give up fireworks. All fireworks
Let's be the first nation on earth to do that
Let's spend that money on homes or helping ppl in poverty or doing something positive for the environment
Fireworks are bad for the environment & a waste of money

Taxpayers should really be more concerned where the moneys going for mutual obligations. They've literally paid out 7billion dollars to job networks who will now funnel unemployed people through their own useless courses to get money. It doesn't help us get jobs 🤷♀️
Always having feelings of closeness to others and maintaining a loving mind is the sole foundation for building everything we wish for. Focusing on small differences in outer appearances to divide and discriminate is nothing but ignorance.
I would prefer that @AlboMP didn’t go to #UkraineRussiaWar .
We can’t afford to lose him to a stray vodka fuelled Molotov H-bomb.
But I’m sure he will go there anyway. Support for #Ukraine️ matters.
Indonesian President Joko Widodo will be in Kyiv next week.
French, Italian, German, British leaders were there last week.
The logistics are not easy for Anthony Albanese to get there, but he is being urged to do so.

You forgot to mention that he is also a polite, quiet spoken gentleman who knows how to both listen and act.
He has earned his retirement but the loss to Victoria will be great.
Have a great future @MartinFoleyMP .
@PaulKeatingPM used to treat treasury staff like that and he had loyal nonpartisan support without fear of giving uncomfortable advice.
Big shoes to step into @JEChalmers but treating professional advisers like professionals is a good start.
Really looking forward to working closely with the talented and dedicated Treasury team again. Thanks for having me back in the building to speak with so many of you about the challenges and opportunities ahead. #auspol#ausecon
I have hundreds - and I mean several hundreds - of books to get rid of. Old and new, any subject you can think of. What on earth do I do with them. Please help.
So why do people still bleat on about it?
Is US system of interminable primaries and then a choice of 2 at the ballot better?
Or run off elections where your vote is ignored unless it is for one of the two leading parties?
