A friend ran into Peter Obi this morning as they shared Asaba-Abuja flight. He bared his mind to the LP’s candidate about the elections and told Mr. Peter that many await his official statement. Peter Obi sued for peace & calm & assured that things are being properly followed up.

@lotannamol@bla_bidza@SkySportsNews@djkeyez I agree completely with sports governance attention deficit, but I think that Africans have demonstrated enough passion and dedicated great time to sports. The lack of economic power to further exhibit their love for the game is an entirely different conversation.
@lotannamol@bla_bidza@SkySportsNews@djkeyez When you say Africa doesn't prioritize sports, how do you mean?
Poor governance by FAs or Africans not loving and giving time to sports?
@olarolls@knxly@Imbuya_media Many people don't understand the game of long-term strategizing and positioning. If they struggle to understand, they should look at Mikel Obi today compared to his set and colleagues.
@osasuo@CAF_Online@UEFA@theafcdotcom@CONMEBOL@Concacaf@FIFAWorldCup Imagine, for once, that this was happening in Africa or CAF. The framing in the media would be more scathing. Imagine if it was the Moroccan royalty, South Africa’s or the Nigerian president who asked Motsepe to favorably review Osimhen or Hakimi’s red card in the eve of a game.
@osasuo@FIFAWorldCup@LIndomptables Except that is what the post you were reacting to implies. Look at the comment section. Beyond that, many people have been going about that during this tournament, even to the point of targeting and scapegoating black players in European teams as the cause of their failings.
@raymdt@lequipe You are working hard to establish a non-existent narrative. You can't force falsehood into truth. When European countries fall in the last minutes, like Netherland to Morocco, it isn't anything to do with their race but when African/Black countries, it suddenly is about race.
@F1v3am@YoungBobRB And that, in a nutshell, captures the current problem with politics across the world. Too many people screaming at each other, hurling their prejudices, with no one actually listening. The man had an important point he wanted to make but alas they didn't let him finish.
@KezieOdo@Bakrshah1@OneJoblessBoy 2/2…I did a presentation of African Football at Wembley Stadium in March for one of my courses. While AFCON has been a big deal, it has rather continued to grow and has never known a better past as data shows. It will continue to grow bigger as it has become a cultural force.
@KezieOdo@Bakrshah1@OneJoblessBoy No doubts, it was fire. I remember the rave while in the Uni when we won it in 2013. But my argument isn’t that it wasn’t fire, it is only that it wasn’t bigger back then than now. Saying cos I’m an MSc student of Football Business in London and I did a presentation on Afri…1/2
@EmmanuelNdiokw4@DrJoeAbah Except that Bayern have won a lot in the past few years while Arsenal haven't. You have to factor the context that informs Arsenal fans’ lamentations. Add to that the very familiar fashion of buckling in the past mile of the league and you see clearly why they worry.
From the South Africa vs Angola game one gets a sense of how fast African football is developing. Traditional powerhouses like Nigeria who refuse to invest in the right aspects will see their superiority disappear in the next 3-5 years.
Flair and talent are no longer enough.
