Important look at two areas which need more examination - in-custody deaths, and statistics of federal agencies. Check it out and I bet you'll learn something new, I know I did - for example, 81% of deaths in 2018-19 were due to illness/natural causes.

An NIJ-supported brief highlights how #LawEnforcement agencies adapted to COVID-19 challenges and which adaptations hold promise after the pandemic ebbs. The brief also provides suggestions for evaluations to demonstrate the efficacy of such adaptations.
(Rare) point of disagreement w/Gottlieb here in that sometimes saying "we don't know" is the best one can do IMO and that's better than providing false certainty. But it does seem like the efforts to model COVID spread have been wanting.
