When you stop reading books, you start losing verbal dexterity, depth of thought and imagination. A closed book is a closed mind. Don't EVER stop reading.
Derek Sivers had it right:
“Mastery is the best goal because the rich can’t buy it, the impatient can’t rush it, the privileged can’t inherit it, and nobody can steal it. You can only earn it through hard work. Mastery is the ultimate status.”
When I die. Just remember one thing I said. Probably the only profound thing.
Your difference in quality of life from $0 (or negative) to $1 million is so significant it’s almost immeasurable.
The difference between $1M and $5M or $5 to $10M is almost nothing.
Never put yourself at risk to go back to $0.
Do all you can to marry a very pretty, intelligent, character-filled, woman that loves the shit out of you, and then give her the world. Don’t short-change yourself.
Nobody is going to tell you this, so I will. The confidence you so desperately want to exude will only come from your willingness to do it scared, over and over again, until your fear feels like proof that you're refusing to sit in stagnation.
A moving man has interviews, tests, exams, courses, applications... and many more to meet his luck.
In between, there will be failures, rejections, and shortened expectations.
But he still has to keep moving.
There is nothing worse than feeling dependent on other people.
Dependency makes you vulnerable to all kinds of emotions—betrayal, disappointment, frustration—that play havoc with your mental balance.
You seriously underestimate how much you can do with time. 1 year is a fucking lifetime. 6 months is enough to go from 0 to 100. Even 1 week of full commitment 14 hours a day is enough to push the needle so far forward you won't even recognize yourself. Just do more. Just do what your heart desires. Just be better.
