AI is eliminating the entry-level roles that built judgment in young workers.
The implication for K-12: those skills now have to arrive with the worker. Which means they have to be built in school.
Portrait of a Graduate frameworks exist for this reason.
The question is whether we are giving educators the tools to actually measure critical thinking, or just asking them to value it.

1/ The most in-demand skill for 2030, per the World Economic Forum: AI and data.
The largest decline in 8th grade math from 2019 to 2022: data analysis, statistics, and probability. Ten points down. Roughly a full year of lost learning.
The two facts are not unrelated.

The districts shaping those conversations are the ones who've already clarified what they value.

The screen time conversation happening now is also an assessment conversation.
