Shaykh ʾIbn al-ʿUthaymīn said:
“For example, if a person is at home, it is from the Sunnah that he makes tea for himself, cooks if he knows how, and washes what needs to be washed. All of this is from the Sunnah. If you do that, you will be rewarded with the reward of a Sunnah, following the example of the Rasūl — ʿalayhi aṣ-ṣalātu wa as-salām — and showing humility to Allāh ʿAzza wa Jall.
As this also creates love between you and your family. If your family feel that you help them with their household tasks, they will love you, and your value will increase within them (i.e, the way they perceive you) so in this there is a great benefit.”

ibn al-Jawzi رحمهُ الله said:
“Know that the root of passionate infatuation is the unchecked gaze. And just as this is feared for a man, it is also feared for a woman.”

al-Naysaburi narrates:
ishaq ibn rahwayah married the widow of a man who had possessed the books of al-Shafi’i after he passed away. He married her for no reason other than the books.
