@SEANJFAHEY@jmattmiller@MicrosoftFlip Yep. And my prediction is that they will do the same with Minecraft Education soon. Microsoft has always seen Minecraft as something to prop up their other weak products.
I've got to hand it to you @Microsoft. After all these years, you still excel at ruining things. Goodbye @MicrosoftFlip. What a great touch to wait until school let out. Now those of us who help teachers with tech get to drop that on them right when they get back from break. Fun!
@RikVigorous@NoStressTech@FixingEducation At that point they are failing because they haven’t mastered the material. Is failing with a zero any different than failing with a 50? And again, why are we worried about the number? I’m concerned with whether there was learning.
@NoStressTech@SpesMagnaMark@FixingEducation The last year I was in the classroom I moved to a 0-4 mastery scale. 0 was no work, 1 was an attempt with little to no understanding of the standard. 2 was partial understanding, 3 was mastery w/ assistance, and 4 was mastery w/o assistance. The Ss loved it and showed progress.
@FixingEducation It honestly sounds like you are more concerned with punishing non-compliance than you are with trying to get both students to mastery. The system is failing both students. The real question is why aren’t they learning and how can we move them to mastery?
@AngelaB78637706@MoGreenforNC When I was in the classroom, I went to a party with a bunch of private school teachers. We were talking shop and they complained about class sizes. I had them go around the room and give numbers. The highest class size was 22. I had 34. You’re making a false comparison.
@eduleadership I mean, sure. We can also say that all students should report to school knowing how to read and riding on a unicorn. The reality is that you do have to earn student's respect, often by simply acting respectfully.
@wilfhh29@nckhui Isn't it interesting how people only look at one variable when making proclamations about what "works" and "doesn't work" in education?
