The best career advice I ever gave my students.

Find one person.

Grow with them.

Do not chase the money yet.

Let me explain with Fatima.

Fatima joined my free graphic design class in November 2024 as a student.

After day one she said Catherine I think we can make this better.

And she offered to help.

I told her I had no money to pay her.

She said it was not about the money.

So Fatima started working with me for free.

Managing my LinkedIn.

My Facebook.

I started paying her ₦30,000 a month when I could afford it.

Today she is the Chief Operations Officer of the Skill to Income Academy.

Not a VA anymore.

The person who runs everything.

Student onboarding.

Following tutors.

Recording classes.

Everything.

And it all started because she found one person and decided to grow with them instead of chasing money.

If you are a beginner looking for clients hear me.

Do not go after the highest paying client.

Find one person with potential.

A creator.

A business owner.

Someone building something.

And grow with them.

Your skills will grow.

Your experience will grow.

Your network will grow.

The person you work with may not pay you much now.

But they will know people who can.

Find your person.

Build with them.

i finally got through with one account using a paid vpn and firefox browser with some anti-tracking features enabled.

they track both ip and device. very toxic platform. 😪
