Creators are reshaping the American entertainment industry. According to a new report by Public First and Oxford Economics, here’s how creators are driving significant economic growth:
💸In 2024, U.S. creators added over $110 billion to U.S. GDP.
📈Every $1 paid out to creators who earn money from YouTube directly generates $1.20 of GDP in the wider U.S. economy.
🇺🇸All 50 states have at least 10 YouTube channels with over 1 million monthly views.
🏙️21% of U.S. creators describe where they live as rural, 48% as suburban, and 30% as urban.
On Monday we announced an equity offering for Alphabet - part of our multi-year investment strategy to meet the AI opportunity ahead and support the demand we’re seeing from enterprises and consumers. Pleased to share the offering was well over-subscribed. We raised a total of ~$45B, with an additional $40B to come as part of an “at the market” program starting in Q3 (for a total of ~ $85B). A huge thank you to our investors, including Berkshire Hathaway who invested $10B.
These commitments include...
1⃣ Replenishing more water than we consume
2⃣ Working with utilities to update public water infrastructure
3⃣ Protecting at-risk watersheds
4⃣ Committing to transparency
5⃣ Identifying reclaimed wastewater alternatives for our data centers
Today, we announced a new set of water stewardship commitments for our data center operations and $17 million in support of 7 new water stewardship projects in the US.
This is an important step forward: The EO aims to deepen government and industry collaboration and give cyber defenders more solutions to stop bad actors. We're doing our part to ensure defenders have the AI tools they need to keep America secure.
Today, Google and Voltus, a clean energy technology platform, announced a three-year agreement to transform up to 100 megawatts of smart, flexible grid assets each year into reliable electricity capacity in the PJM grid region, which spans the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic regions and serves 67 million people.
When I was asked by the American Academy of Arts and Sciences to write an essay on my thoughts on how AI will accelerate Science, I felt honored but also felt that it would require a lot of thoughtfulness and diligence to distill my thoughts on paper.
The essay has now been published and I cannot be more thankful to the @americanacad and @GoogleDeepMind teams for their feedback and encouragement during the process.
Key reflections from my essay:
🔭 AI is our newest revolutionary lens: Just as the telescope and microscope expanded our physical perception, AI is extending our cognitive reach, allowing us to decipher the immense complexity of the data-universe.
🧬 The rise of "machine intuition": AI is not just a computational engine. By detecting hidden structures across disciplines—from protein folding to extremal combinatorics—it acts as an ultimate bridge, accelerating the interdisciplinary breakthroughs that modern science depends on.
🏗️ From puzzle-solvers to architects of questions: As we transition toward open-ended, agentic AI systems that actively generate novel hypotheses, the burden of reasoning is shifting. We are evolving from being the solvers of intricate puzzles into the architects of profound scientific questions.
✨ Expanding human potential: AI won't replace scientists; it expands what we can imagine and achieve. Just as the telescope didn't make astronomers obsolete, AI is giving us the stars.

Go from "pile of documents" to "presentation-ready" in a few clicks. NotebookLM helps you transform your research, notes, and reports into a cohesive slide presentation, so you can spend less time formatting and more time prepping for the meeting.
We’re making AI disclosures simpler for creators and clearer for viewers. Here's what's coming:
🏷️ Labels for realistic AI-generated content will appear on the video player for both long-form videos and on Shorts.
🔍 We’re introducing automatic AI detection to help creators label their AI content more accurately.
🪪 Plus, over the next few weeks, we’re giving all channels 18+ access to our likeness detection technology to help spot AI deepfakes. It doesn't matter how many subscribers you have, if you're monetizing or if you haven’t posted a video yet — everyone gets it.
Today we’re introducing Google AI Threat Defense - a comprehensive AI-powered cybersecurity solution designed to help continuously monitor for and stop AI-powered threats before they can impact your business. Here’s how it works:
1. AI Threat Defense uses our cybersecurity platform @wiz_io to scan and prioritize what applications and systems have the highest security risk.
2. Gemini and other frontier AI models can then autonomously perform continual deep scanning of your applications - starting with those at the highest risk - to identify security vulnerabilities.
3. The capabilities of CodeMender - a new software repair agent - are then used to verify and accelerate the patching of vulnerabilities.
4. And our @wiz_io autonomous agents continuously test your systems to find unknown vulnerabilities before adversaries do so that you can remediate them before you are attacked.
While other model providers focus on using AI to find and flag vulnerabilities, Google AI Threat Defense actively prioritizes your most critical real-world risks and accelerates their remediation using a variety of models since no single model finds a superset of the vulnerabilities found by all other models.
At the AI for the Economy Forum, Angie Cooper, President of Heartland Forward, emphasized that realizing the full potential of AI requires everyone to have a seat at the table 👇
At Google, we believe the benefits of AI are not guaranteed—they are shaped by the choices we make today.
From North Dakota to Tennessee, we are committed to working together to ensure this transition empowers rural communities with the AI tools and skills they need to thrive.
For centuries, the scientific method has been our best tool for progress. But today, there’s so much data out there that it’s impossible for any one researcher to connect all the dots. We want to fix that:
Introducing Gemini for Science, a collection of science tools and experiments designed to accelerate the speed and scale of scientific exploration.

Transforming public service for the AI era requires partnership and a shared vision. At #GoogleIO, we brought together Mableton, GA Mayor Michael Owens, Public First’s Rachel Wolf, and @Apoliticalco’s Joel Patrick to discuss the future of government innovation. (1/3)
We’re also celebrating a major milestone: Through the Government AI Campus—supported by a $5M grant from @Googleorg—Apolitical has trained over 500k public servants in AI skills. This marks the halfway point toward our goal of training 1M public servants by the end of 2026. (2/3)
Today at #GoogleIO, James Manyika, Lila Ibrahim, and Chris Phillips came together to discuss the responsible integration of AI in the classroom and its potential to improve learning outcomes. (1/3)
From equipping teachers with foundational AI skills to launching global educational initiatives that bridge AI literacy gaps, we are committed to ensuring technology acts as an equalizer. (2/3)
