If by a man's work shall ye know him, then I am a seeker of the zone of proximal development (Vygotsky), ironer of uniform, finder of phone, and slow of pace.
My kids are asleep and my wife's on call. So I have the evening to explore whether my latest acquisition might enable some of my students to access online learning at quite a low cost. Of course, it's a #raspberrypi400@Raspberry_Pi.
Exciting career announcement... I'm delighted to be able to announce that I've moved into a new position at Oxford. I am the first holder of a new chair endowed in perpetuity: the Ashall Professor of the Foundations of Artificial Intelligence. [1/4]

One of proudest days of my life.
This weekend I graduated from Oxford University 🎓
This is an honour I had only ever dreamt of growing up. I guess dreams do come true…
I’m grateful to Allah, my immensely supportive parents & my friends whose prayers and support made it possible ❤️
It has been the most remarkable journey of hard work, perseverance & resilience. I couldn’t be more grateful for this opportunity of a lifetime.
Now, it’s time to use this education and experiences from Oxford to change the world.
Thrilled to be moving to the next steps in my studies.
Onwards & Upwards…

The final slide is basically just an excuse to show them the graphs of y=log(x^2) and y=2log(x). I really want to to put in as many of @Whitehughes ‘encouraging graphical thinking’ questions as possible next year.
Number and Algebra completed. Found in ‘curriculum’ section of my site. Check out other materials as well whilst you’re there. https://t.co/WUio2pFkAi #mathschat#maths#mathscpdchat
@jonathansimons I remember when I was double the age of my year 12s, and I reminisced about AS-levels in the year of their birth. Now it's third year undergrad, and somehow that doesn't make sense.
