It's disheartening to see that despite fulfilling all the application eligibility requirements for the Income & Assets Certificate, my application has been rejected on the basis of my father's place of birth, i.e., Bihar.

Met PK Sharma in a Delhi-Meerut passenger train for a news report. For 40 years, this Meerut resident has been getting up at 4.30 am to join his office in Delhi, and reaching home by 9.30 pm. Six days in a week.

In most families, a generation has toiled this way to push the financial status up, uncomplainingly, living for the monthly salary, with no room for risks or adventure. Like treading a straight line without venturing sideways at all.
