@MooseHamilton@WB_Baskerville The idea that somehow a certain Justice's opinions are "rambling" or "incoherent" (vs your preferred outcome's loyalists, who are flawless ofc) is one of complete opinion.
@MooseHamilton@WB_Baskerville It literally is 100% lol. The only time Thomas has ever voted against Trump was the attempt to overturn the election, and even then he wasn't fully onboard with the majority...
@melvinthecat5@crunchhhtime@ReichlinMelnick@ZaidJilani And now you're just being racist - which is what this really comes down to. Your argument isn't actually about the economic impact or duration - it's that you would prefer to watch them suffer from afar, because somehow earthquakes and assassinations are people's fault ...
@melvinthecat5@ReichlinMelnick@ZaidJilani Americans actively don't want these jobs, that's why they're vacant. The underemployment would be taking them. No American wants their child to grow up to be a hotel housekeeper, home health aide, or meat processor. Are those goals you have for your family?
@melvinthecat5@PardonMyPain@ReichlinMelnick@ZaidJilani Wrong. They aren't eligible for benefits, and nor are their kids unless they are US citizens. Yet they pay taxes as if they are. Seems like a good deal to me...
What is a desirable community for someone fleeing Hati is different from a desirable community for someone born here..
@melvinthecat5@crunchhhtime@ReichlinMelnick@ZaidJilani Ahh, so now you're ignoring the incredibly well documented dangers faced in Haiti right now, simply because they've gone past your imaginary timeline on how long that situation can be.
@melvinthecat5@ReichlinMelnick@ZaidJilani Why do you think there were no Americans there? They didn't want to be there... 😉
Having had the incredible displeasure of a multiple month long work assignment in rural Ohio - I can confirm, it's depressing and boring AF. Migration has always filled undesirable situations.
@melvinthecat5@crunchhhtime@ReichlinMelnick@ZaidJilani So you're advocating to convert their status to asylum? I think everyone could get behind that. The conditions are not safe for them to return, however, and there's no actual need from the US side for them to leave .
@melvinthecat5@ReichlinMelnick@ZaidJilani It's well documented that migration from TPS recipients led to a surge in the economies of many rural American communities. We don't need to put a timeline on people benefiting our society - particularly when their home situation is far from resolved.
@MarcBehring@SaraForTexLege The problem is that insurance company negotiated rates aren't based on cost/profit. They're factors of network quality and negotiating leverage. Plans with Fortune 500 employers have deep pockets and will pass on top dollar rates. Individual plans are stingy and "narrow network"
@MarcBehring@SaraForTexLege So even if the cost was $60, physical space had to be reserved for stocking the braces, staff had to be paid to maintain that inventory (of all variants possible) then Medicare might pay $50, and Medicaid maybe $40, and it's a write off for people who are uninsured, and you $200.
@MiddleRights@SaraForTexLege@costplusdrugs Cost Plus Drugs is only groundbreaking in the same way that the Tylenol is cheaper at Costco than CVS. There's nothing magic about selling bulk generic drugs at scale, and it does absolutely nothing to fix the real prescription drug issues.
