The Mercado Libre machine keeps on churning. $8.8B net revenue (+𝟰𝟵% 𝗬𝗼𝗬) is incredible for a 26-year-old company. The Brazil numbers are particularly impressive.

Two things foreign CPG brands evaluating Brazil should take from this quarter:

1. Brazil is accelerating, not maturing. 𝗚𝗠𝗩 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘄 𝟯𝟴% FX-neutral in Q1, up from 35% in Q4 and 30% a year ago. 𝗜𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘄 𝟱𝟲% - the fastest of any MELI geography. 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝘇𝗶𝗹 𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗮𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝟭𝟳 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝘆𝗲𝗿𝘀 year-over-year, essentially all of MELI's net buyer growth across Latin America.

2. 𝗠𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗼 𝗔𝗱𝘀 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘄 𝟳𝟯%. The platform is simpler than Amazon's - fewer targeting options and configurations, making it easier for sellers to get started. New features are rolling out, like Store Follow ads.

Lost my phone recently so looking at options to get a new one. Tax on electronics in Brazil is so insanely high that you can fly to Miami or New York, go to the local Apple Store, buy an iPhone, have lunch, fly back to Brazil and it’s cheaper than buying one in Brazil!

Is there any other professional field or court sport in the world where the dimensions of the playing surface are not the same for all matches?

Professional rugby matches are consistently played on pitches smaller than they should be. The in-goal area here in the @ChampionsCup is tiny. It completely changes the dynamic of the game.

Imagine Djokovic turning up to a tennis tournament and finds out that the baseline has been brought in a yard because the stadium is smaller. It would be crazy. Yet with rugby it happens all the time. @WorldRugby #rugby
