With Rocker Steiner and Wacey Schalla both out for an extended period of time, the bareback riding race is suddenly wide open, and Jacob Lees is taking advantage, continuing what has been the best year of his career.
In June, Lees has gotten on just six horses, but won at least $1,000 on all of them. In total, he has racked up $18,076 to bring his season earnings to $106,028. That puts him No. 4 in the World and just $14,000 behind World No. 2 Bradlee Miller, the highest ranked healthy cowboy in the PRCA.
This past weekend, he had the type of rock-solid summer weekend that keeps a cowboy in prime position in the World Standings. He placed at four rodeos, notching a pair of second-place finishes to go along with a fourth and seventh-place check.
For the season, Lees is averaging 83.64 points per ride and has already made 19 rides of 85 points or more.
John Crimber covered Kippers Ripper for 92.5 points to win Woodward, Oklahoma!
Crimber is now No. 7 in the PRCA World Standings and since June 9, he has won Woodward, Parker County, Gladewater Xtreme Bulls, and Parker County Xtreme Bulls.
All four of his rides were 88.5 points or better and he banked a total of $28,760. Crimber was No. 18 at the beginning of June.
