I wish more non-autistic people knew and accepted that autistic people who can seemingly do a lot of things - like work, socialise and clean - may truly need to rest after doing them, may not be able to do them in quick succession, and may sometimes not be able to do them at all.
This is a really common question, probably because the library/author relationship can seem pretty opaque from the outside. But libraries do benefit authors! A lot! Here’s how-
Staying up late because you can’t put a book down is a serious commitment in adulthood. This is not the body that was sneaking a flashlight in and staying up until 4 reading only to bounce out of bed the next day like it was nothing. Those grownup missed zzzs are load-bearing
A toddler yelled MAMA SHE’S SO PRETTY HER HAIR IS SO PRETTY at me from across the street today and you can’t tell me NOTHING now
there is no being on this planet more honest than a toddler, toddler compliments are the only 100% real ones
sometimes i think “oh i know i’m autistic but i’m not *that* disabled” and then other days i am completely and utterly humbled by my total inability to read anyone’s tone, intention or read between the lines
Y'all just don't like autistic people because most of the time when I describe accommodations but don't use the word autism, people are willing to work with me. You say "autism" and suddenly my needs are actually too much. EVERYONE can be unpredictable, not just autistic people.
Hot take, and no disrespect to the poster, but it’s wild how much anger issues are normalized in the gaming community, especially among men playing competitive games. It’s not normal to smash something, or to spend every match ‘shit talking’.
Adults too
Remember when you are angry, annoyed, hungry, stressed, otherwise triggered, etc, your prefrontal cortex is turned off
Once that happens, you aren’t receiving any new info, you get black/white thinking, reasoning is harder, etc
Might as well circle back later
I'm still in shock about Rooster Teeth coming to an end. I can understand the why's, but the reality of it cuts deep. I've been a fan for more years than I can even remember. Rooster Teeth is what drove me to finally pursue passions, go to school, and has molded a lot of who I am
#RoosterTeeth is just a brand. But the people. The wonderful real people… you gave us something so special. You are all going to thrive.
Thank you. For everything. Thanks to your creativity and passion, we all have #RTCommunity memories spanning decades. And so. much. more. ❤️
With everything going on I wanna remind people that lots of people are very confidently wrong and love presenting their assumptions as facts.
Just something to keep in mind when reading everyone’s takes and thoughts on things.
During this time, please give people space while they grieve and plan what's next. A lot of us don't have the energy or information to answer all of your questions. When we know something, we will address it. But for now, give folks some grace.
Also, read the fucking room.
My autism was mislabeled as...
Friendly but weird... annoying... self-centered... too much... not enough... introverted... finicky... overly sensitive... talks too much... smart, but... capable, but... [insert positive attribute here] but...... (there's always a but)
