Steam closes round him like a second skin,
water finding every place his hands begin,
heat answers heat along the falling stream,
and want rises, honest, in the gleam.

He answers the heat that gathers in his blood,
a low drum rising under willing skin,
no witness needed, only the flood of blood
of want he chooses, and lets fully in.

His hand becomes the wind across wet glass,
waking every nerve until it sings;
breath shortens, deepens, will not let this pass
pleasure bein claimed, his body knows bright things.

Faster now the current finds its course,
a river learning fire along its length;
he meets the climb with hunger, not with force,
and feeds the blaze that gathers all his strength.

Then the wave breaks open, clean and wild,
release like thunder rolling through warm air;
he spends the storm, standing, still undefiled,
a man who tended longing without despair.
