@Andercot New Shepard re-enters the atmosphere at around 2,000 mph because it just goes straight up and falls back down. Crew Dragon re-enters the atmosphere at orbital speed of about 17,500 mph. At that speed, the friction causes a plasma burn. Not so much at 2,000 mph.
