Olivia Rodrigo speaks out on criticism for wearing babydoll dresses during Popcast interview:
“What’s really, like, disturbing is I feel like I have worn outfits that are revealing on stage. Like I’ve been on stage in like a sparkly bra, little shorts, which is my right. That’s fun. I felt cool and comfortable in that. And like that wasn’t “inappropriate” — but me, like, fully covered up in a dress that people deem to be, like, childlike was inappropriate. And I just think it just like shows how we really normalize pedophilia in our culture. And also it’s just this rhetoric that we’re fed as girls since we’re so little, which is like, ‘Don’t wear that because then a man is going to sexualize your body and it’s your fault.’ Like it’s so weird. And I didn’t think I looked sexy in that at all — I was like ‘This is so cool. I feel like I look like Kathleen Hanna or Courtney Love.’ All these people who are my heroes.”

She's slowly becoming the best pop star alive and no one will admit it bc she doesnt make shitty generic bubblegum pop music. but GUTS alone is better than 99.9% of every album from any mainstream pop star in the last decade
she’s such a great example of knowing your niche as an artist and making it work every time, this feels deeply aligned with the emotional world she’s built with every album. melodramatic in the best way, hyper-specific, vulnerable and cathartic.
‘the cure’ by Olivia Rodrigo debuts at #1 on the Global Spotify chart with 7.21 million streams.
It also debuts at #1 on the US Spotify chart with 2.68 million streams.

“It's always hard to say exactly what your favorite song you've ever made was... but this would have to be pretty near up there for me.
Olivia brought the verse of this song to the studio in September and we very quickly wrote the chorus & bridge and laid down a demo for it...! think it happened so fast that we weren't sure what to think of it at the time... but when we came back the next day and listened to it, I remember we looked at each other and it was one of those special moments when you're making a record... like... 'I think we got one...
On a side note... one of my favorite things about the recording of the song, is that we used the demo vocal and guitar from the first day... we tracked two guitars and two lead vocals and panned them left and right, which is something to started to implement a bit more on this album and becomes a bit of a theme!”
