I *do* miss when Denis Villeneuve was making smaller films. I miss him making films like ENEMY & PRISONERS & SICARIO. I often hope he can squeeze just one more small scale thriller again one day.

But he is also the perfect example of a filmmaker starting small & gradually evolving as each film of his gets bigger.

He has entered the blockbuster stratosphere where he is now considered one of the biggest pioneers currently preserving the survival of cinematic experience.

What’s even more beautiful is that his artistic voice is still so profound amongst the higher scale & machinery of it all. The intimate whispers & the brutalist visions. It’s all Denis Villeneuve’s mind. What a master.
