Are we witnessing the rise of the Marvel Universe’s savior… or its newest villain?
David Colton’s story continues to unfold in the pages of ‘Avengers: Armageddon’ #1, available now. Spoiler cover for issue #2 by InHyuk Lee.
Having read the first issue of Avengers Armageddon, I have to say that this is off to a decent start, though not without its flaws.
The Madam Secretary was my favorite character in this and I really hope that the hypocrisy of what the Avengers are doing gets addressed and isn't just a retread of their actions at the beginning of One World Under Doom.
I still don't like Colton and this issue does a lot to show that he's the strongest guy around at the moment which I find irritating. Hopefully he'll get depowered before this event is through.
Armageddon begins next week and I am cautiously optimistic for it.
I want this to be good and want even more for this to get Marvel back on the right track and shake of its recent malaise.
That being said, if Colton ends up being the big hero here I will be mildly furious.
Looking at my notes, I have watched 809 movies since 2017, when I began to keep track.
I would have a higher count, I was averaging 100+ a year until 2021 when I hit 150. That sort of burned me out a bit and since then I've been hovering around 40-50 a year.
“After the war Stuart began his career as the ghost of the haunted tank with his Grandson nicknamed “Tankman Stuart”.
In the battle of Gotham harbor, Ma Murder had Batman pinned down. Batman was a yankee but despite that Stuart saved his life. That was the kind of ghost he was.”
What the writer here describes is the law of diminishing returns, when a publishing strategy that prioritizes events over all other methods of storytelling is increasingly failing to resonate with audiences.
Readers understand all to well the game Marvel plays with events, as much as we may enjoy them, when was the last time one left a lasting impact that was actually built upon in later titles?
I personally rather liked Blood Hunt, I'm a fan of vampire shennanigans and Pepe Larraz's art, I even bought the Red Band hardcover. But does anything that happened in it matter at all today?
Really, the fact that Doctor Doom took over the world last year and nobody cared while it was still happening, should've sent very loud alarm bells throughout Marvel editorial about how they handle events.
With Avengers: Armageddon around the corner, I legitimately wish Chip Zdarsky the best. The advertising for that has been much of the usual "the Marvel universe will never be the same again" routine, but I hope that he can beat expectations and pull off something great.
This has some uncanny valley effect of looking like one of those fake AI movie trailers but with gameplay that seems buttery smooth and fun.
Bizarre yet captivating.
A younger Marcus Fenix takes center stage in this thrilling and brutal gameplay trailer for Gears of War: E-Day, the upcoming title that is set 14 years before the original game and that will be released on October 6, 2026.
