“she should’ve invested in vocal coaches” oh brother SHUT UP 😭 this woman has been singing since childhood, won contests in thailand, beat 3999 people at an audition and got straight A’s across every field during evaluations but suddenly her entire history means nothing because it doesn’t fit your narrative. do you people ever stop to think about why she lost confidence in the first place??? she literally spoke about being discouraged from singing so the others could shine, spent YEARS getting the same recycled rap verses while others got to develop their vocals in front of the entire world and only started getting more substantial singing parts towards the end of bp’s run. but somehow it’s HER fault for not magically undoing years of conditioning overnight??? now that she’s finally putting herself out there and working on her vocals, you’re still moving the goalposts because admitting she’s improving would ruin your little “lisa can’t sing” agenda. you can’t spend years mocking a woman for something she was discouraged from doing then turn around and blame her for not doing it sooner. pick a struggle. you don’t want her to improve, you want a permanent excuse to humiliate her and the fact that you’re dressing that shit up as constructive criticism is hilarious.
the interesting part of track 4 isn’t even the title tarantino itself but the themes associated with his work: betrayal, revenge, injustice and fighting to reclaim your freedom. now put that next to beatrix kiddo in kill bill being the black mamba, lisa’s character beatrix waking up and breaking free in bad angel and press play having cobra followed by tarantino back to back??? am i connecting dots that aren’t there or is lisa building an entire narrative about a woman breaking free, reclaiming her power and becoming the one they should’ve feared all along because WHAT IS GOING ON
press play is most likely structured like an entire movie… sawadika introduces the main character, v12 brings the high-speed luxury car and adrenaline rush, cobra gives dangerous femme fatale energy, tarantino brings the cult cinema, revenge, stylized violence and unpredictable storytelling, cut u off is the cold breakup/betrayal anthem where she walks away without looking back and sweat closes the night with sensuality, physical chemistry and club energy. with the cd resembling vintage cinema machinery, the film-like frames and the red and blue lighting, lisa might be building an entire cinematic universe inspired by 2000s hollywood, vintage film reels and cult movies. six tracks, six different sides of the same main character. idk if it’s intentional but the visual storytelling potential is INSANE. she’s not just releasing music, she’s giving us a whole movie to press play on.
the way the press play cd is giving vintage cinema and film reel aesthetics… the little frames around the disc, the dramatic red and blue visuals, the whole packaging looking like something straight out of a 2000s movie soundtrack collector’s edition. and with the title being PRESS PLAY??? like you literally press play to watch a movie. lisa really has me looking at this ep like it’s a lost hollywood film from 2004 starring the most gorgeous femme fatale you’ve ever seen. the concept, the visuals, the physical packaging… EVERYTHING IS SO CINEMATIC. she’s not just giving us music, she’s building a whole visual universe around it and i need people to understand the vision.
@JungkookOutsol@BBCWorld dedicating tweets to someone who doesn’t even know you instead of minding your own business and focusing on your favs is a shame <3
@mygluver0309 mind you, she wasn’t even allowed to breathe until she finally emancipated herself and even then yg didn’t allow her to speak up properly. we’re still waiting for an apology from the people you stan by the way!
she apologized for the cultural appropriation that occurred during blackpink comebacks or related solo yg activities back in 2021 and then apologized during her own documentary for the n-word back in 2025 to air in 2026 knowing she wanted to apologize the moment it got out but was forbidden to do so.
Always Lalisa is in cinemas and IMAX® tomorrow!
