@PeterGskrid The one place in Texas you must camp, is Big Bend. That is seriously, seriously worth it. You can even stop at Mafra and indulge your Euro-weenieness! But otherwise avoid. Those cactus you think you'll seeing aren't even there...
@PeterGskrid 2) Gators from southern virginia to Big Bend on the Rio Grande. Wild Pigs in every southern state with a vowel in it. Religious nuts with guns everywhere. Kentucky and Tennessee are like Slovakia only no castles and everyone speaks English, mostly. Food is good. Y'all come!
@PeterGskrid Horrendous mosquitoes in Louisiana (AKA The Finland of the South. ) Michigan and Minnesota also consider the skeeter the unofficial state bird. Texas you mainly need to protect yourself against fire ants. Don't laugh.
@PeterGskrid You don't have to be an American to be a G-D Yankee! It's all about your approach to life. Here in the South we accept very large mosquitoes carrying away people by the Pontiac-load. The most we might say about it is ....... Yup!
@BethanyJarmul I ended my academia after getting a BA in English with two creative writing courses in the mix. Did not know anything and couldn't write for shit. I've been a professional for 35 or so years. You could call my writing literary.
@SMartinStafford@paulclark42GB Well, you know Shaun, that is how these things happen. And once it begins, there'll be no stopping it. Here in the US, we are on the edge of it. I don't see any reason to think the right can moderate itself. Bad, very bad.
@jake_fluekiger Bouncing between released KGB files and FBI files about the same Soviet spy ring in 1944. It's kind of like the star gate sequence in 2001 a Space Odyssey in terms of rabbit hole
