@BadSpit There’s a brilliant podcast on this by Malcolm Gladwell on Revisionist History, arguing it was much more deep rooted than just a laughing fit. Worth checking out.

@Jo_Caulfield How about ‘Hi hello’ Johnny Marr, segueing into ‘Hello Goodbye’ by The Beatles, ending with ‘Speak like a child’ by Style Council to represent you welcoming your new speaker (see what I did there?)
@Eric_Alterman Seasons in the Sun is dreadful but it’s based on the wonderful ‘Le Moribond’ by Jacques Brel, sung with vitality & raging energy quite unlike the insipid Jacks version.
@LaurensJulien A great CL final performance, no doubt but not the greatest final - plenty of other contenders incl Liverpool v AC Milan, Man U v Bayern & much earlier ones too - Celtic v Sporting pretty good!
@barneyronay Please reserve something for the mealy-mouthed expert views of Seedorf (and Rooney) who seemed personally affronted by the fare on offer. I take the point that defending can be beautiful (Baresi, Cannavaro etc) but attacking riches trump all that (and little if any faked injury)
@batcountry1980 Was incredibly moved when I saw Roddy play ‘Letters’ live solo performance at Cadogan Hall in 2018. Brought back memories of listening to the whole brilliant album when it was released.
@Tim_Burgess Saw Squeeze third on bill behind Eddie & Hot Rods & Radio Stars in about ‘77. They’d just released ‘Take me I’m Yours’. Loved them & consequently bought East Side Story a few years later when they were much bigger.
https://t.co/VmUth6V1hh Very sad - elegant, gifted actress. Her early successes coincided with my time living as a student in Paris, so saw many of her films. #nathaliebayeRIP
@For_Film_Fans Loved that film & the double album soundtrack is magnificent. Dave Edmunds in back up band with versions of hits eg ‘When will I be loved’ great, plus introduced me to Hendrix, etc as teenager. Essex is brilliant in it.
@bluejeanbaby01 Yep. Remember excitement of seeing them in 77 or 78 (I think) at Hemel Hempstead Pavilion. Squeeze were third on the bill! (Just after their first hit).
