If "Yes" obtains a simple majority a second time, regardless of the margin, the question passes. If it does not obtain a majority, the question fails to advance into law.
Though Q5 obtained the necessary 50% threshold, the margin of "Yes" was within 1%, and per federal election law, the question will advance to the general election for final passage.
QUESTION 1 UPDATE: Elections BC is working with Melbourne Government on scan issues at WEL14, a polling site in centre-city Wellington, where up to 18,000 ballots may not have been counted in Q1 totals... updated numbers to be provided per MEL SOS office.
Melbourne By-election mail-in counting complete. We expect <200 remaining ballots, which account for military and voting abroad ballots. Should have final numbers Friday at 5pm.
